Hostal Gonzalo - Madrid

The hosts, Javier and Antonio, provided warm hospitality and helpful recommendations to local eateries. The beds were comfortable and the room was impeccably clean.

Rooms are a bit small.

Extremely clean (and even with beautifully scented soft towels, bed sheets and pillow cases!), safe, quiet, homely, and conveniently located with friendly staffs. I would definitely stay at Hostal Gonzalo again in the future if I return to Madrid.

We took a guest room with a TV set, climate control, and a closet space, it was functional. The services were excellent...

The location is fantastic, just a few minutes from major attractions. The owners genuinely care for their guests and provide a high level of service, readily assisting with any needs. The room was clean with comfortable bedding, and the quiet atmosphere allowed for a restful sleep after busy days. Unfortunately, the air conditioning struggled somewhat during the heat, a bit inconvenient. The lack of a larger breakfast option limited the dining experience, though there are great eateries nearby.

Brilliant location. A couple of minutes walk from Prado, Thyssen, right in the city centre. Even though it's in a neighborhood filled with restaurants and bars, the street itself is very quiet. Staff is very friendly, rooms are pristine clean. Would definitely recommend it.

Stayed in this property for 6 nights and liked our choice. The breakfast was well priced and had variety of meals. They gave us fully-equipped queen room with clean towels. The accommodation had a central location in the center of town.

The owner provided really good warmth and friendliness throughout my 5-night stay. The room was impeccably cleaned every day, which contributed to a very comfortable environment. I really enjoyed the hidden neighborhood that was full of charming tapas bars, perfect for a cozy evening out. The recommendations for nearby attractions made exploring so much easier.

It is centrally located( two blocks from the Golden Triangle of museums), inexpensive, very clean and the people are friendly and helpful.

Beds were firm, the bathroom door swung into the bathroom thereby requiring some effort to use the bathroom and close the door simultaneously.

Diligent staff facilitated a good and nice stay, our comfort in this charming location. Proximity to museums was a highlight.

What a relief it was to arrive at the welcoming Hostal Gonzalo! Up to that point our first impressions of Madrid had been rather negative: my husband had been "relieved" of his money belt (zipped on the inside of his vest!) by a couple of super smooth pickpockets on the Atocha Station's escalator and the taxi driver had no idea where the Gonzalo was, supposedly a few minutes walking distance, and kept driving in circles, meter ticking. The family-run hostal is truly a gem, on the third floor of a gorgeous old home with beautiful stairways or a neat little old-fashioned elevator bringing you to their front door. Once inside you know you are in excellent hands. This family-run place offers you a quiet, super clean room plus en-suite, with personal care, in the heart of Madrid, only steps away from the Ritz but at a fraction of the price! This being our first hostal experience, we couldn't have been more happily surprised. Although the parents don't speak any English, their sons Javier and Antonio do and even offer taxi services.

it was a wonderful little and friendly hotel in a very convenient area, close to all the museums as well as a bus stop for the express bus to the airport. the breakfast was reasonably priced, i would love to stay here again.

It was just a proper fit for a brief pit stop in Madrid with good value for cost. The staff was really helpful, even drawing maps to nearby restaurants. Check out the local eateries for authentic experiences.

Excellent service within 16 miles of the airport: D
